Building material consists of debris left over from a construction, remodeling, or demolition project. This includes plywood, lumber, pipe, drywall, ductwork, shingles, concrete and bricks. In the past, this material went to the landfill. Now, there are many recycling options.

Try listing your items on the Beaufort County Materials Exchange. You never know who may be able to reuse them.
To Donate Your Unneeded or Used Building Material: Please check with Habitat for Humanity prior to making a donation. This is also an excellent place to find bargain materials for your home improvement projects.
If your material is unusable & you wish to dispose of it please read section 62-30 of the Solid Waste Ordinance. Below
Allowable truck/trailer loads for disposal at convenience sites are defined as follows:
(1) No trucks larger than a pickup or utility trailer (eight feet long, five feet wide, 28 inches or less in side height) are allowed at the convenience sites.
(2) No loaded pickups with loaded trailers are allowed at the convenience sites.
(3) A truck load is a load at or below the 28 inches side height of the pickup/trailer; no over-the-bed loads are allowed at the convenience sites.
All convenience centers accept C & D. Please refer to the Beaufort County website for convenience centers hours in your area. If you have a load that exceeds the above limits you must take your material directly to either Oakwood (under County contract) or Barnwell landfill (not under County contract).
