SFU Facilities Services Maintenance Request - Recycling/Garbage

*This solution is for administrative staff only*

Various items can be recycled, reused or safely disposed of through Facilities Services. Please note select items require specific pick-up request forms.

If you have items that you know need to be disposed of, recycled, or are broken beyond repair follow these instructions:

  1. Visit the Facilities "Maintenance Request" page: https://fmrequests.sfu.ca/ServiceRequest.aspx?RequestType=maintenance
  2. Sign in using your Single-Sign-On SFU ID
  3. Select “Custodial Request”
  4. Complete the rest of the form with your department's information and a description of the items you would like picked up
  5. Note, for items such as bubble wraps/packaging, paper, and PPE you must request a separate recycling bin to be brought to your office for that item. Custodial services will only pick up these items if they are pre-sorted into separate bins.

Generally, if you are SFU staff and are unsure about what to do with any items, it is best to default to completing a Facilities' Maintenance Request - members from the team will arrange pick up for your department.

*Furniture, Batteries, Lightbulbs, Office Supplies, Scrap Metal, and Electronics are all considered surplus items and are not picked up through this stream (select “Routine Surplus Furniture and Equipment Removal” in the form instead)
