Garden hoses are not something that can be recycled at this time.  If they do get placed in your recycling bin (which they should not) they will be removed at the recycling plant.  If hoses were to wrap around the recycling equipment, it can cause a significant amount of damage and downtime.  Both of these factors can have a negative impact on any recycling program and increase costs as well as reducing efficiency.

Be creative, there are uses for old or leaky garden hoses. If you can't use them list on a material exchange site so someone else can.

• Make a Summer-themed wreath with hose lengths (cut 4 feet or so) and simply glue garden-themed items to it, such as old gardening gloves, seed packets, small gardening tools, artificial flowers flowers, etc. Might be great to sell at a craft sale.
• Cut lengths 4-6 inches, split down one side and slip over a bucket or pail handle to make them more comfortable to lift and carry.
• Slit a section of hose and slip it over the blade of an ax or saw to protect it when not in use.
• Slip a section slit hose onto support ropes that go around young trees to protect the trunks from rope burn.
• Any length of hose can be used as a bumper pad where needed.
