Wallpaper cannot be recycled with mixed paper,  because it  is composed of synthetic inks, dyes, adhesives and coatings, making it difficult and costly to separate those components.

If put in the garbage and broken down in landfill the by-product methane gas is produced - a greenhouse gas with a global warming potential. 

However,  you can give wallpater a new purpose and even if you don't wish to repurpose it yourself, someone else might.
