Many local Habitat for Humanity affiliates operate ReStores, which sell reusable and surplus building materials, furniture and appliances to the public. The proceeds fund local Habitat house construction.
To donate materials, please contact your local Habitat ReStore: http://www.habitat.org/restores
They usually accept cabinets/counter tops; carpet/flooring (new only); doors (interior & exterior, good condition); drywall (1/2 sheet & larger); electrical material; hardware; lighting (working with all parts); lumber; roofing (new shingles, rolls, gutters); tile; windows (double pane only vinyl or newer wood); appliances (7 years or newer/working); ceiling fans (must have mounting hardware); insulation (new, usable quantities); paint (containers must be half full with original label in tact), plumbing/fixtures (sinks, tubs, faucets, etc.); tools (hand and power, in working condition); vents (floor, ceiling, return air); architectural items (columns, mantels, posts)
Please call prior to bringing things in or dropping them off. It is not always necessary, but it helps to ensure they accept certain items and to get information on their donation process. Please do not drop off items on their properties after hours or without their knowledge. Thank you!
