Different types of light bulbs require different disposal methods.
Halogen light bulbs contain halogen gas and are typically used as flood lights. Halogen bulbs can be used outdoors and indoors.
Halogens retain one major disadvantage shared by incandescent bulbs: they cannot be recycled. Like incandescent bulbs they do not contain toxic materials, so it is safe to throw them out with your household garbage.
