Reusing and recycling them reduces harm to the environment, conserves natural resources and helps sustain the economy. Typically small appliances are made up of plastic and metal which are both recyclable.

If they are still in working condition:

• List on: http://www.2good2toss.com/lewis/?content=lewis. Someone might be willing to reuse them.
• Sell or give away at a yard sale
• Put at the curb with a "Free" sign - someone might be interested.
• Give to friends or family.
• Many thrift shops accept donations of usable household goods at various drop-off locations or some offer a free pick-up service
• Take to the Reuse Center at the Central Transfer Station

If the item is no longer in working order:

• If more than 50% metal it can be recycled at a scrap metal dealer.
• Since small appliances can be processed like electronics, many e-waste recyclers accept small appliances for recycling (but check first, not all of them do).
• Some manufacturers have a take back program (eg. Hamilton Beach will take their's back and you pay the shipping).
