Paperboard/boxboard (the material cereal boxes are made of) is accepted in the curbside recycling programs as mixed paper. Boxes with a plastic window opening such as cake boxes or pie boxes can also be recycled in your recycle cart or community recycling depot. You do not need to remove the plastic window liner from the box prior to recycling. But, you do need to remove the plasric liner from cereal boxes.
Fold or flatten and place all paperboard loose in your recycling cart (no plastic bags). All items must be free of food and other contaminants.
Examples of paperboard include:
Dry food boxes - cereal, cookie, snack, pet food, soda & beer boxes
Non food boxes - health care, gift, shoe, laundry detergent, tissue
Paper product tubes - paper towel, toilet paper, gift wrapping tubes
