Vegetable, peanut and other cooking oils can be dealt with as hazardous waste to keep it out of the garbage.

Do not pour cooking oil down the drain. Used cooking oil can be hard on septic and local sewer systems. Some companies collect grease from restaurants, hospitals, schools and food service establishments for recycling as well as from government agencies. If there's only a small amount of cooking oil left in your pan, simply let it cool and then wipe it up with a paper towel.
