Egg shells can be put in a compost bin or dug directly into a garden patch if you don't have a composter. Doing this is better than putting them in the garbage.

To reuse them:

  • Make a wall of crushed egg shells around your plants to deter slugs, snails and caterpillars.
  •  Some people eat powdered eggshells for the calcium (first steam them to sanitize, thoroughly dry them and use a blender or coffee grinder).
  • They can also be added to potted plants.
