Other kinds of glass, like window, mirror, drinking glasses, light bulbs, Pyrex, crystal, etc. are manufactured through a different process and are not accepted. If these materials are introduced into the glass container manufacturing process, they can cause production problems and defective containers. To dispose of these forms of glass properly, please carefully place pieces inside a cardboard box, tape the box closed, plainly mark the box “glass" and put out with your garbage.

Some make-your-own wine and beer stores will accept bottles for re-use (call ahead).
Remember, Reuse is better than Recycling in terms of energy use. Purchase products that come in reusable glass bottles (i.e. milk).
If you have broken glass of any kind, do not place with your box of recyclables or regular garbage. Broken glass must be treated as a “sharp” and disposed of in a special manner. Completely seal it in a cardboard box (or other container that isn't easily punctured) and label as glass or sharps and place it beside the garbage so the collection staff are aware.
More information about Glass and Glass Recycling is available from the Glass Packaging Institute-a glass industry association. http://http://www.gpi.org/recycling/
