Flares, bullets, explosive devices and fireworks are hazardous items that can cause severe injury or death, and should never be thrown out with your regular garbage.
Ammunition is extremely dangerous if not disposed of properly.
The primary danger associated with ammunition (bullets and shotgun shells) is accidental discharge. Accidental discharges can result from pounding on a bullet or throwing it into a fire. Keep ammunition away from children. Store it in a secure, cool, dry place away from heat or flames.
DO NOT transport explosives or shock sensitive material to law enforcement agencies or any other site unless instructed to do so. Moving these materials could cause an explosion.
