Extinguishers with contents remaining are considered hazardous and should be taken to the Snohomish Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Station: They are also accepted at the Recycling and Transfer Stations and Drop Box sites. Some quantity limits or other restrictions may apply.
Some fire extinguishers can be refilled instead of thrown away, but not ones manufactured before 1984.
Call your local fire department. You may be able to exchange your extinguisher or get it recharged.
